Search Engine Optimization is basically the practice of optimizing the placement of your website on search engines. There are three basic approaches you can take when it comes to being found on the major search engines such as Google, Bing, etc. First, you can cross your fingers and hope to be indexed and found and that your site will appear somewhere out there when folks are searching for your type of info, product or service. Second, you can put forth a little effort and do some research, tell yourself “I can do that on my own” and go at it alone in an attempt to improve your rank, and honestly, you will probably be able to improve your rank, the question is, if it’s enough to matter. Third, you can hire a company to handle it for you, just because you can learn how to build a house on your own with just a little training and effort, doesn’t mean you have the time and desire to do so, and it doesn’t mean it will be the same if built by a professional, and truthfully SEO is sort of like that, it takes a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of learning, adapting and staying on top of the latest techniques and industry changes to really pull it off the right way. If it’s not your full-time job, you shouldn’t try to make it on your own.
